Celebrating 61 years of Independence.

Namaste everyone,
Now that we've come to the 61st year of celebrating our independence day, I know it feels great to know this, for its a long span of time, since we have got this freedom. On this day, therefore let us not forget the sacrifices our brave heroes have given, for us to live in peace, liberty and pursuit of happiness. They lost their lives so that we could live a better one. Would all of us be willing to be doing this? Some would say no, some, yes. But as we say, actions speak louder than words. Each of us, owe something to them, for we do not have to let their efforts go in vain. We must do everything we can, to pay back their debt, to fulfill their dreams of seeing a prosperous India, a developed India.
Today, India's position in the world is respectable. Ours is a developing country, a country marching ahead to be the best. To achieve this goal, we need to educate people. the population in our country is to an explosive extent and this same population can be used for a better purpose. Attitude is the only problem that needs to be solved. Our mentality, our temperament need to be changed, for we are narrow-minded. We need to broaden our horizons to look at things with a different perspective. That doesn't mean that we have to be western in our thoughts. No, West is not the Best. We need to come up with our own ideas, our own thoughts, our own innovations. We do not have to be dependent on others. Yes, there is a lot to learn from these other countries, but those are the good things. Like cleanliness, good management, etc.
Talking about comparing our country with the others in matters of money and wealth, our country, once called as the "land of the golden sparrows" is true in its literal sense. India has so much wealth, that even the Swiss Bank cannot dream of having. What does India not have? India has a larger population of young people, who can run this country in a different way, who can make necessary changes.
Why this country has a glorious past, a beautiful present and a promising future. Yes, India is one day going to be the most developed country, but its on to us to put our efforts in this. For we are the youth, the ones, who can make a change and one fine day it sure will happen, if we educate the poor, the ones who are willing to be learned, educated. We need to understand our value and not let others take undue advantage of us. All of us, must in our lives, help the unfortunate ones, so that one day India will rise. We must put a stop to corruption. And how do we achieve this? By changing our and others' attitude. We must abide by rules. If we see someone doing something wrong we must correct him. We must respect the prestige of our country. For freedom is not just a feeling, it is our responsibility. We blame the government for improper roads, electricity shortage, transport, but do we go to the root of the solution? Do we by the most means possible, save electricity? The answer is no, we don't. If you do, then it is well and good, if you don't, start doing it. The faults and imperfections are always seen in others. Do we look within us?
The only answer at the present moment is that we have to change ourselves. We must teach one uneducated person at least and make him educated, well informed. Then only can our large population be put to use in a fruitful manner. We are lucky to be born in a well cultured country like India. We must thank ourselves for it. We HAVE to bring a change. It is the need of the hour, to put back our prejudices and march ahead in life with good ideas and notions.
As it is said, a drop and drop make an ocean. Therefore, UNITED WE STAND , DIVIDED WE FALL.
JAI HIND, JAI BHARAT.
Thank you.
Mohana.

Nice article, great thoughts...
No country is perfect. Living in a developed country right now I have realised that. But it is the attitude that makes all the difference, as you have rightly said.
I just hope you don't lose your idealism as most of us do as we grow older...
