Being Nostalgic...
Hello everyone,
Sometime, everyone in their lives, will come across this word. Nostalgia. Everyone experiences it. I have too. Only, I'm sharing it with you. Sometimes in life, we just feel that the old days, our past, some memories should come back and never leave us again. I've felt so about school. Whenever I think of school, my mind is flooded with pieces of the past, of the scent of the school. Yes, and when saying scent I actually mean it. There is a specific smell which always links me to school. My childhood days. The time I've spent there is never going to come back to me, but it will always live in my mind. For its been a very eternal and immortal part of me. Now that I am in college, I realize how easily we all take school for granted! Never think of how safe, protected, sheltered and innocent we were. We're caught now in the never ending chain of running everyday, struggling, which is also a part of life.
A blissful time we had in school. How we never took the teachers seriously, how we fought with our friends, how we studied at the last moment, the discussions after the exams, the time we got our exam papers, the crying ..the laughing..the fun..every single thing which made it worthwhile. How we all were so innocent, how we started changing, learning new things. How we scribbled in our notebooks, how the teachers shouted at us, the banging of the duster..everything. Coming to think about it, I'm actually surprised that we were terrified of even thinking of bunking any period..obviously we wouldn't dare to... but now in college it seems like an everyday routine. Of course, not to mention the we had uniforms in school, where there was no competition and no fashion.
I still remember how our P.T sir punished us if we did not polish our white shoes! All of us actually hated it but couldn't protest, could we? The D-day(result day) and the comparison of marks... the thing our parents always did and we never actually enjoyed. After that came the teasing... Not to mention the way our class always fought to have the games period. In college, no one is bothered. No one will sometimes even look at you, won't care at all. Because this is the time they think , we've grown up. No need to coddle and pamper us now! Every time I think of school, I find a huge difference. I'm saying this.. you won't understand the feeling if you're still in your dear school, but the ones who've left school long past and are in college....will understand exactly what I mean.
Thank You,
Mohana.
